Harrogate

In the 17th century, out of two settlements, Low Harrogate and High Harrogate, Harrogate grew. As Harwegate, Harougat and Harrowgate, the Harrogate name in the 1330s is attested. In the 17th century, a number of inns were opened for visitors in High Harrogate (Queen's Head, Granby, Dragon and World's End.)

For Harrogate, the sunlight has been captured by Samson Fox Newspapers commented, after Parliament Street became the world's route to be lit by water-gas. Found that High Harrogate's Tewit Well's water possessed properties that are similar to Spa's Belgian springs, which to spa towns gave its name, William Slingsby discovered the mineral spring was discovered in 1571.

Covering much of the area known as 'Bogs Field', where a number of springs were discovered, the Valley Gardens is the main park in Low Harrogate. With award-winning themed gardens on the western edge of Harrogate, RHS Harlow Carr gardens are the RHS's presence and representative in the North of England.
